Hardware Requirements

LaundryVerse runs on any modern browser, with native Android apps for both the POS and Stations, and no special hardware to buy. You can sign up and explore the dashboard from a laptop today, then add equipment as your shop grows. The setup below is what most shops land on for day-to-day operations.

Tablet (POS terminal)

The main point-of-sale device where employees create orders, take payments, and manage the Order Board.

Use an Android tablet. It's the recommended POS device. The native LaundryVerse POS app on Google Play is Android only, runs full screen, scans QR labels quickly, and feels like a dedicated tool rather than a browser tab. A 10-inch or larger screen works best.

  • Setup: install the POS app from Google Play and sign in with your store code. See Setting Up the POS for the full steps.
  • Internet: a stable Wi-Fi connection.
  • Mounting: a tablet stand or wall mount at the counter keeps the screen reachable during busy hours.

iPad and Windows tablets can still be used, but they aren't recommended. They have no native app, so the POS only runs in a browser (Safari or Chrome) on them. No tablet at all? You can run the POS from a laptop or a spare phone while you set things up.

Thermal receipt printer

For printing customer receipts and the QR labels employees scan at each station.

  • Connection: USB or Bluetooth, connected directly to the tablet.
  • Supported widths: 58mm or 80mm paper rolls.
  • Recommended models: any ESC/POS-compatible thermal printer, for example Xprinter or the Epson TM series.

Receipts can also be sent by SMS or just shown on screen, so a printer isn't strictly required to take orders. See Printer Setup.

Cash drawer

For secure cash handling during shifts.

  • Connection: an RJ11 cable into the thermal printer's kick port, so the printer pops the drawer open automatically.
  • Compatibility: standard RJ11 cash drawers work with most thermal printers.

Cash drawers are optional. If you only accept GCash or bank transfers, you can skip this entirely.

Optional

Vault or safe

For storing cash between shifts. LaundryVerse tracks vault deposits and withdrawals, but the physical vault is up to you.

Smartphones for Stations

Back-of-house staff use phones to run Stations, the app for scanning QR labels and moving loads through wash, dry, pack, and claim.

  • Any modern Android phone works. An old spare phone is fine.
  • App: install the LaundryVerse Stations app from Google Play. The native app scans faster and feels like a tool rather than a browser tab, which is why it's the recommended way to run a station.
  • Browser fallback: Stations also runs in any modern browser (Chrome or Safari) and can be added to the home screen as a PWA, handy for iPhone, iPad, or a quick desktop demo.
  • Internet: Wi-Fi or mobile data.

See Setting Up Stations for the full install and sign-in steps.

Common questions

Do I need to buy anything to start?

No. Sign up and use LaundryVerse from any laptop or phone browser to set up your store, items, and prices. Add a tablet, printer, and cash drawer when you're ready to take orders at a counter.

Do I have to install the apps?

The native Android apps are recommended for both the POS and Stations, they run full screen and scan faster. But both surfaces also run in any modern browser, so you can start without installing anything and add the apps later.

Can I use an iPhone or iPad?

As a fallback, yes. There's no iOS app, but both the POS and Stations run in Safari, and you can add them to the Home Screen for an app-like view. The recommended setup is an Android tablet for the POS and Android phones for Stations, see the sections above.

Is a printer required?

No. You can send receipts by SMS or show them on screen. A thermal printer is only needed if you want printed receipts and scannable QR labels for the stations.

What printer and cash drawer should I get?

Any ESC/POS thermal printer (58mm or 80mm) and a standard RJ11 cash drawer that plugs into the printer's kick port. See Printer Setup.
